Visit the beautiful Greek island of Hydra
The beautiful Greek island of Hydra is among the premier tourist destinations today. In the 1950’s and 60’s, the island was discovered by painters, which is why this destination has a good reputation for being an artist's destination.
One great thing about the island is the fact that any kind of motorized vehicle is banned. If you need to be someplace in Hydra, you might find yourself on the back of a donkey!
During spring, summertime and fall months particularly on Saturdays and Sundays a lot of Athenians are traveling into the island using their private speed boats and yachts.
Hydra's small port village is a spectacular sight. It's small harbour is ringed with cafes, restaurants and shops, and followed by a town of stone houses and villas, tiny squares that rise the hills just like an amphitheater.
This easy access simplifies the experience -- no bus schedules to take care of, no vast city to understand on a map, just a simple walk out of your hotel to exactly where you want to be.
This heavenly island will speak to all of your passionate feelings. It will lull you in with the easy life and you will not want to budge out of your ringside seat towards the surrounding beauty.
Hydra isn't a real beach front island location. Most of its beaches are smaller than average consist of pebbles or they are just rocks were you can go into the water. One of the very few beaches with sand and probably the best option is the Mandraki beach just east of Hydra Town.
Hydra Town is the only town on the island; you will find most of the activity is centred around the waterside area. In the summer caiques carry vacationers to the islands beach areas also water taxis can take and collect you, to many locations on the coast, including Agios Nikolaos and Bisti.
